Aunt Threatened by Nephew for Land Dispute

A 67-year-old woman has complaint to Bago City PNP that she and her family were threatened to be killed by the nephew of his late husband who he also shot dead in 1997 due to land dispute in Purok Rosas, Barangay Balingasag, Bago City.

Mrs. Salvacion Estrevenson claimed that the nephew of his late husband Luis was threatened with gunfires atop her roof on Monday. The suspect even told the victim he was able to shoot the roof of their house which caused fear to them.

No. 7 in Drug Watchlist Nabbed

Bago City PNP led by Superintendent David Cachumbo, Jr., arrested the city’s No. 7 in drug watch list in a buy bust operation Tuesday evening in Torres Street, Barangay Poblacion. Cachumbo identified the suspect as Ben Benito Herrera, “alias Michael Herrera,” 42 years old, of Purok Esmeralda in the same barangay.

Cachumbo said they confiscated three elongated sachets of shabu including the buy bust item worth P7, 000 in market value.

Nurse Killed, 3 Others Injured in Bago Mishap

A nurse of Bago City Hospital was killed, her two colleagues and the driver of a tricycle they were riding on were injured when a pick up hit the tricycle along Salas Drive, near the Bago Police Office at about 10 p.m., Wednesday.

They were victims of hit-and-run, according to Police Superintendent David Cachumbo, Jr., Bago chief of police.

He identified the fatality as Berlen Mondia Bedayo, 25, of Mar-El Subdivision in Bago.

Injured were nurses Lina Surmaco, 32, and Paula Oreta, 32.

Pickup Driver Who Killed Nurse Now Identified

Bago City PNP has identified the driver of a Mitsubishi pickup who killed a nurse and injured three others 9:30 p.m. Wednesday along Rafael Salas drive in the city.

Superintendent David Cachumbo, Jr., Bago City PNP chief has arrested Rodolfo Salazar, 48 of Barangay Pacol also of the city for questioning.

Salazar alleged he did not know he hit somebody that fateful night.

But Cachumbo said the color and the debris that was left at the tricycle matched with the color of Salazar’s pickup and the debris of his bumper.

‘Submit to Gov to Clear Name’, Eusebio Tells Tabianan

“Submit yourself to the Governor to clear yourself.”

This was the appeal yesterday of acting provincial administrator Leonardo Eusebio to provincial agriculturist Engr. Igmedio Tabianan.

Eusebio said that Tabianan cannot be contacted by him or even Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., to ask him to submit an incident report involving an employee of his department.

“If an employee is involved in something, it is the responsibility of the department head,” he pointed out.

The Capitol employee involved in a vehicular accident that left a nurse and three others seriously injured on May 8 in Bago City will be required to submit his side of the incident, provincial legal officer Jose Ma. Valencia said yesterday.

Valencia said that the Provincial Legal Office has been directed by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to conduct an administrative investigation into the accident involving Rodrigo Salazar, an employee of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

One of the three suspects was accompanied by his family to surrender to police authorities Tuesday in the killing of a Bago City resident, whose body was dumped and found 9:20 p.m., Sunday in Purok Westway, Barangay Damsite, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Police Senior Inspector Laurence Bathan, Murcia PNP chief identified the suspect as Normel Panaguiton, 18, resident of Barangay Abuanan, Bago City and neighbour of the victim.

Two of them were already identified but Bathan asked not to divulge their name pending their arrest.

The City of Bago will commemorate the quasquicentennial or the 125th birth anniversary of one of its illustrious son, former Senator Ramon Araneta Torres on Sunday, June 12.

The event will coincide with the 118th Philippine Independence day celebration in Bago. The program will start at 7:00 a.m. with wreath-laying ceremony in the Torres Mausoleum, at the Old Catholic cemetery. Bago Mayor Ramon Torres, grandnephew of the former senator together with Vice Mayor Nicholas Yulo will lead the occasion.

A total of 400 or more elementary school pupils from grades 1 to 6 received a complete set of school supplies, including among others notebooks, pad paper, pens, pencils, erasers (and uniforms for selected pupils), during the Skwelanihan 3, which was presented by the Malingin Leaders Youth Association for a Change (MLYAC) under its Founder/President Lester “Icy” Nonallada with the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Councils of the University of St. La Salle (USLS) as major partners on June 11, 2016 at the Jalsis Elementary school, Brgy. Malingin, Bago City.

Mauled Person Found Dead

A person who was living alone and earlier mauled by his neighbour in Purok Batad, Barangay Sampinit, Bago City died around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Bago City PNP identified the victim as Delfin Millena Gaborno, 56, single, watchman, while the suspect is Emmanuel Pajardo, all residents of the said place.

Police investigation said that the incident was due to misunderstanding, the reason the victim was earlier mauled by the suspect.

Wanted for Rape Nabbed in Bago; Couple for Adultery

Police operatives arrested a fugitive hiding for five years in Hacienda Louisa in Barangay Ma-ao in Bago City around 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

Police authorities identified the suspect as Raymundo Puro Dilagison, Jr., 25, single, of Purok Argentina, Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City.

He was has a pending arrest warrant for rape in relation to violation of RA 7610.

Judge Frances Villena Guanzon of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-62 in Bago City issued his arrest warrant dated July 3, 2013.

Bago Mourns Buc-an Yulo’s Death

Former Sugar Regulatory Administrator and lawyer, Arsenio "Buc-an" Yulo, Jr. passed away Sunday afternoon after weeks of confinement in a hospital in Bacolod. He was 90.

Mayor Nicholas M. Yulo said that their father peacefully passed away at 3:07 p.m. June 18, 2017 of congestive heart failure secondary to coronary artery disease, ischemic heart disease at Riverside Medical Center, Bacolod City.

The Mayor is thanking each and everyone on behalf of his family for all the prayers and their continued love and support.

3 Killed, 2 Hurt in Separate Mishaps

Three persons were killed and two others were injured in two separate road accidents in Silay and Bago cities Tuesday.

In Silay City, the victim was identified by Superintendent Willy Diel, Silay City PNP chief, as Francis Aligcomot Celiz, 28, single, of Kalye 11, Barangay 2, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

He was driving his Honda 155 motorcycle going north around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday when he failed to control it and hit a Gmelina tree in the center island of Rizal national highway along Seaview Subdivision, Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City.

The village chief of Barangay Bacong-Montilla in Bago City, Negros Occ. was shot by two unidentified suspects who barged into his house in Purok Tuburan in the said Barangay around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police Chief Inspector Joeffer Cabural, Bago City OIC police chief identified the victim as Barangay Captain Federico Hilado Gayagas, 47, married.

He sustained gunshot wounds on his right shoulder and legs and was rushed to Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City.

Boy Drowns; Washed Out in Bago

A 7-year-old boy from Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City was drowned and his body washed out in the river at Barangay Abuanan, Bago City around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trique, Deputy Police Chief of Bago City PNP disclosed that the boy was carried by water current from Barangay Prosperidad and was discovered by passersby in the riverbank of Barangay Abuanan.

He is identified as Bernard Canillo, grade 1 pupil. He was reportedly trying to cross the river in a makeshift bridge made of bamboo when he accidentally slipped and fell down the river.

Bago City Conducts Anti-illegal Drugs Summit
