The City of Bago led by Mayor Nicholas M. Yulo supports this this year’s anti-firecracker campaign of the Department of Health (DOH) which carries the theme, “Iwas Paputok, Fireworks Display ang Patok! Makiisa Sa Fireworks Display sa inyong Lugar.”

American National Found Dead in Bago

An American national was found dead inside their room at their house in Purok Masinadyahon in Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Bago City police identified the victim as John Raymond Miller, 68, pensioner, of Arizona, USA and married to a Filipina for 12 years.

He was found lying on his bed and was rushed to Bago City Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

His wife told police authorities that her husband has long been suffering from high blood pressre, diabetes and spinal damage.

A riot among inmates erupted that caused the death of one inside the Negros Occidental Provincial Jail located at Barangay Tabunan, Bago City around 2:37 p.m. Sunday.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, Deputy police chief of Bago City identified the victim as Nolan Debulgado Baldomar, 34, of Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The victim was brought to Bago City Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.

He sustained injury in the different parts of his body after he was mauled by his fellow inmates, according to police.

Frustration Leads Man to Suicide

A 67-year-old jobless man suffering from illness committed suicide around 3:00 p.m. Sunday in his residence in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the victim as Eduardo Villaruz, 67, single.

A witness, Reynaldo Villas Villaruz, 49, married, said he heard a gunshot and checked inside their house and saw the victim lying on his bed, holding a .38 caliber firearm with blood oozing from his head.

Fires Raze Brgy. Hall in Bago, House in Cadiz

Two fires occurred early this week in Negros Occidental, one ate up a barangay hall in Bago City and another one razed two houses in Cadiz City Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Fire the Barangay Hall of Barangay Tabunan in Bago City and residential house in Cadiz City Wednesday and Tuesday respectively.

In Bago, Barangay Tabunan Captain Maria May Claridad Suarez said that she was only informed by her barangay tanods and utility worker that a fire razed their barangay hall at around 6:30 in the morning.

BCC Student Died, 2 Others Injured

A motorcycle back rider got killed and the other back rider and the driver were injured when they slammed into a van Saturday morning along the national highway in Crossing High School in Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City.

Sr. Insp. Hercules Trigue, Bago PNP Deputy police chief, identified the victim as Marvin Arangote Bercebal, 22, single, student of Bago City College and resident of Purok Roadside in Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City. He sustained head and body injures and died-on-the-spot.

Manila Volleybelles Set to Play in Bacolod on Aug.21

The growing following for volleyball led various groups to bring popular teams in Manila to play in an exhibition game at STI-WNU Gymnasium this coming August 21, 2017 at 4:30pm. Carmela Arcolas Gamboa who led the organizing of the said games in the City says they will bring the Ateneo Lady Eagles and Banko Perlas Spikers in Bacolod.

Bago City Awarded as Most Improved LGU by the National Competitiveness Council

Bago City was awarded first place in the Most Improved LGU category by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC) during the unveiling of the Cities & Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) at the 5th Annual Regional Competitiveness Summit held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.

CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the NCC through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.

Teenager with Epilepsy Found Dead

A teenager suffering from epilepsy (kuyap) was found dead by his father in a muddy part of a vacant lot in Purok Cosmos, Barangay Calumangan in Bago City, Sunday morning.

Bago PNP identified the victim as Jonard Ripaso Barioga, 18 of Purok Nipa in Barangay Busay, Bago.

His father Jonny Barolan Barioga, 39, married discovered his son lying on his belly with his head stuck in a muddy and watery portion in the place.

He found his son while walking in a vacant lot at the place. He told police that his son was suffering from epilepsy.* (Cyrus Garde)

A senior citizen was killed and four other passengers injured after they were bumped by a motorcycle around 5:30 p.m. Sunday along the highway in Purok Ilawod, Barangay Napoles, Bago City.

Police Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, Deputy Police Chief of Bago City identified the victim as Mila Cahilig Jarqueo, 65, widow, of Purok Ilawod, Barangay Napoles, Bago City.

Bago Farm Overseer Nabbed

An overseer of a farm in Bago City, under the influence of liquor, was arrested in Purok Mabinuligon in Barangay Alianza early in the morning Saturday.

Bago policemen identified him as Angelo Villahermosa Peñas, 44, married, overseer of Purok Mabinuligon in the barangay.

He was arrested and was turned over to Bago police authorities for possessing one homemade .357 caliber revolver without ammunition and serial number.

Barangay tanods were able to disarm him at a wake, with the help of some residents.

Bus Passenger Dies in Bago Collision

A Ceres bus passenger died, while about 30 others including the passenger of a tricycle and the bus driver were injured in a triple collision along the accident-prone area of Araneta Highway in Barangay Taloc, Bago City at past 9 o’clock Saturday night.

Initial Bago Police Office report identified the fatality as April Rex Narciso Villegas, 24, single of Purok Elgar in Barangay Don Jorge Araneta in Bago.

Fisherman Stabs Laborer in Bago

A fisherman stabbed and wounded a laborer in front of a gasoline station in Purok Malipayon in Barangay Alianza, Bago City around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Bago City police homicide investigator identified the victim as Henry Mendoza Peregrin, 43, married, laborer, of Purok Malipayun, Barangay Alianza, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

He sustained a stab wound on his left chest and was brought to Bago City Hospital, but was later transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Dead Body Found in Bago

A dead body was found inside the Abuanan Public Cemetery in Bago City around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The NOPPSC 4th Maneuver Platoon in Barangay Dulao, Bago City informed the police through a text message.

Bago City PNP identified the victim as Aladin Tizon Fernandez, 51, single, of Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City.

The victim was found at the top of a tomb on his back naked. He was believed to have mental disorder as claimed by his brother whose name was not disclosed, who was also at the scene when police arrived.

The family of a suicide victim is mulling on filing charges against his teacher at Ramon Torres National High School (RTNHS) for cyber bullying and for shaming him.

The family of Erichan Demafeliz, 15, a grade 8 student of Ramon Torres National High School in Bago City and resident of Purok Acacia, Barangay Napoles, Bago City is planning to charge the said unnamed teacher after the victim hanged himself in their house.

CIDG Nabs Murder Suspect in Bago

A murder suspect was arrested by elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Bacolod) led by Chief Inspector Rey Cuanico in Purok Soledad, Barangay Dulao, Bago City around 4:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Cuanico identified the suspect as Ariel Balbona, 42, married, of the place.

Judge Francis Villena Guanzon, of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-62 in Bago City issued the arrest warrant dated July 13, 2017. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.

He was turned over to Bago City PNP where he was detained.*(CMG)
